Animangapop: The Interviews

Animangapop: Behind the Scenes

The interviews

In this short series we take a look behind the curtain at some of the people who make the magic happen. These people give huge chunks of their spare time to bring these shows to life all around the country and are dedicated in making sure they put on the best show they possibly can, making sure everyone has a fabulous time and leave them wanting to attend Animangapop again. So without further ado, let’s say hello to… Lucy.

Hello Lucy, thank you for taking the time to sit down and answer some questions.

Can you tell us what your role here is at Animangapop?

My role here at Animangapop is Social Media manager as well as Crew manager. I’m usually the one responding to the Social media messages.

How did you get involved with Animangapop and have long have you been here?

I was given a nudge by one of the staff to volunteer as I have been attending since day 1, and now I have been here for 4 years? 5? I’ve lost count its been that long!

What is one of your favourite tasks and why?

One of my favourite tasks is preparing a post ready for social media, it’s almost as if I am holding a little secret and I am the one to spread the news! ^^

What is the one task that is a grind but needs to be done?

Closing down the event. I don’t want AMP to finish for the day, I want it to keep on going, and having to pack it all away can be quite sad to watch sometimes.

If you had to pick one memorable thing that has happened in the last 10 years of AMP, what is it?

I distinctly remember the after party in 2019. Everyone’s expressions was all you needed to tell everyone was having an absolute blast!

Animangapop embraces all forms of Japanese POP-Culture. What is your favourite part of Japanese culture and why?

Something in Japanese culture that has always caught my eye is the internet cafes. The idea that they run 24/7 and you can just sit in a little cubicle and be on the internet all day just sounds amazing. I cannot wait to try that on my trip to Japan. (one day)

What is your Favourite Anime?

My favourite anime hands down is Bleach. Without a doubt! C’mon I’ll fight you if you tell me other wise^_^

Tell us one funny thing that has happened to you at an Animangapop event in the past?

There are many different stories I could give for AMP, behind the scenes and during the event. The most comical stories that I remember is attempting to play Jackbox with attendees and trusting them to behave… they mostly did haha.

Thank you for time time on this Lucy, we know you are super busy with Shows.
